Eyecon – The Background Lowdown
When compared to other gambling and gambling software companies, Eyecon is one of the smaller ones, established in 1997 in Australia. Brisbane, Australia was a recognised hub for innovation in gaming in the late 1990s and Eyecon were one of a number of companies who began their journey designing and creating unique slots and casino games at this time. By 1999 the company had begun the development of its own online casino system and games range and in 2003 they launched their first slot, the perennially popular Temple of Isis.
While the company is known for its slots, it gained a strong reputation due to its games being played alongside bingo rooms by many players. Eyecon has gained most notoriety as the creator of the hugely popular Fluffy Favourites slot, which is enjoyed by regular online slots players and bingo players. Fluffy Favourites was launched in 2006 and remains their most popular creation.
Eyecon has been involved in the gambling industry before the online casino revolution. They were there at the beginning and have played a role in the land-based gaming industry in Australia as well as their role online in the development of slots and casino games.
Eyecon Arrives in Europe
Eyecon opened their head office in Alderney in 2015, after a couple of years of building their presence and name across Europe. Their games are available on a vast number of bingo and casino sites across Europe and the wider world and while the Alderney office began as a satellite development, it soon became central to all they do, with their Customer Account and Relationship Management, Business Development, and Sales and Marketing departments based on the island.
The Eyecon and Playtech Partnership
The fate of Eyecon and their many popular games was significantly boosted when they became a subsidiary of industry leading software providers Playtech. Playtech Group acquired Eyecon in February 2016 in a deal worth around £50 million. Playtech considered the deal a huge opportunity to further extend their influence across the UK bingo sector, with Eyecon slots known for being popular with bingo players.
Prior to this point, Eyecon had a key role in providing slots for recognisable bingo network providers such as Virtue Fusion and Dragonfish. While this element of their business has been retained and remains core to their offering, they have also been able to develop further slots and as one of the companies working in conjunction with Playtech they are able to find easier access to bigger name casinos and a wider range of sites.
Playtech also saw the benefit of investing in Eyecon due to their proprietary Remote Gaming Server. The Eyecon RGS was developed in-house and gives the parent company quick and direct access to the company’s distribution channels without the need to develop new software or retrofit applications to the new company’s games and options. The Eyecon RGS allows Playtech access to the whole 888 bingo network, including their own brand and also the Virtue Fusion network.
Eyecon Slots Games
Eyecon is the name behind some of the most recognisable and most played slots games at both casino and bingo sites. Many of their titles are in excess of ten years old, such as Fluffy Favourites, yet they remain as popular as ever and continue to attract new players. Other Eyecon slots include Sugar Train, Irish Luck and Shaman’s Dream. Many gained their popularity due to being played on Dragonfish bingo sites and other bingo partners.
Eyecon slots come in many different styles to suit different kinds of player. They have developed a reputation for cute and “fluffy” slots but their collection expands beyond this type of game. They have a strong reputation in the female orientated side of the casino and bingo industry, but this is just one of their many strengths. What’s more, the company is proud to have created a product which appeals to female slots players, who can be traditionally hard to target, even if they have been accused of some political incorrectness in their game design. Conventional and male-focused slots games are also found in the Eyecon arsenal with games such as Stampede designed with male users in mind with more generic games like Wu-Shi Lion and Temple of Isis designed for almost any slots player.
New Eyecon Slots Expected
Partnering with Playtech has given Eyecon much more freedom for future design innovation and the chance to launch many more games per year than they were able to previously. Their games designers can focus all their efforts on new game development as their big sister company takes over operational requirements and the management of many of the less creative elements of the business. Since their launch Eyecon has been involved in the creation of over 100 unique slots games and this number is only set to increase as they have more freedom to develop and build upon their newest game ideas.
